More Batman: Return of Bruce Wayne Art
Got home from the Planet Comicon in Kansas City (more on that subject coming soon) to find that both the official DC Comics blog and have posted a little preview of Batman: Return of Bruce Wayne #1. Click HERE and HERE to see the two pages in high-rez (look at the gorgeous inks by Karl Story!!). Click HERE to see the art again, plus all of Andy Kubert’s covers for the entire series. When you’ve tired of looking at artwork, maybe you can scroll down to the Newsarama comments section and get in on the heady debate over our depiction of giant prehistoric bats–apparently some people can accept time travel, immortality and invulnerable aliens from Krypton (subjects also depicted in our story) as plausible but giant prehistoric bats are just way over the top…You’ll find many other thought-provoking reactions in the comments section as well, my favorites being “it looks retarded” and “Shirtless Batman. SOLD!”

  1. I love the feel of this. Like when Bruce Wayne emerges from the cave, with the cave men below. Reminds me of 2001 a space odyssey or something. Great work. I know I'm gonna love this series, and the giant bat is awesome!!Rob

  2. LOVE your stuff. Looking forward to this and Ton Strong. I am additionally digging it because it's so Michael Golden and I love MG. Really cool. It would be cool to see you on covers ago for a stretch.

  3. Oooh, I knew there was going to be trouble as soon as you said, "Newsarama comments section." You can't go there expecting reasonable discourse. That's like expecting thoughtful analysis from the YouTube comments section. Beautiful work, by the way. You really hit the bullseye with your Bruce Wayne; he's not so young that he looks like a novice, and not so old that he looks like someone's dad. The way you've used the greys and blacks to frame him is quite nice, too.
