Tom Strong and the Planet of Peril

Last time I said I’d do my best to post once a week, so here’s a gallery of a few of my favorite panels/images from the upcoming mini-series, Tom Strong and the Planet of Peril. I’m not going to post any images that give away any surprises, though. No release date yet, but I can tell you that the series was written by Peter Hogan and inked by Karl Story. I’ll post updates when I have more info. Enjoy!

Note: larger, higher-resolution versions of a couple of these images can be seen on the Gallery page, accessed from the tabs underneath the header at the top of the site.

Batman

I’m going to get things off to a good start here on the new version of the blog by beginning to post something new at least once a week. For this week, I’ll focus on some Batman work I’ve done recently…

First up is a piece of DC licensing art I did for my editor Ben. He’d gotten tired of hearing me whine about missing working on more mainstream DC characters (no matter how much I love the Tom Strong characters and their universe, sometimes it’s just a blast to work on some of the big DC characters), so he offered me a shot at a cover-worthy Batman image. The only catch was that he needed the piece pencilled, inked and colored by the close of the next business day. I was up for the challenge and delivered my part on time:

Next up are a couple of panels from the story I’m currently drawing for DC Digital’s Legends of the Dark Knight series–nothing spectacular–just a bit of a teaser using two of my favorite panels so far. I’ll post more after the story is “published.”

This is the first time I’ve drawn Commisioner Gordon in almost twenty years!

Next time, I’ll post some of my favorite panels from the upcoming Tom Strong series, Tom Strong and the Planet of Peril.

Welcome to SPROUSENET!

Hi, everybody–

Welcome to the new Sprousenet, the official website/blog for comic book artist, Chris Sprouse. That’s me, incidentally–I’m running/maintaining this site myself, and whenever I can, I’ll post news about and plenty of images from past, current and future projects.

I began a blog several years ago on Blogger, but I’ve been having trouble getting that site to work the way I’d like it to in the last year or so, so I decided to pack up and move over to WordPress. Bear with me as I get everything up and running and learn the ropes here at the new place. All the old posts and images from Blogger have been transferred over and can easily be accessed from the “Archives” links on the right. I’ve also incorporated the checklist of my work and my art sales site as supplemental pages you can access from the tabs/links just underneath the header image at the top of the blog.

I should note that the old Blogger version of this site started out primarily as a way for Xan and myself to keep our families and friends up to date on our lives, something that became redundant after we both signed onto facebook along with everyone else on the planet. Now I plan to use SPROUSENET to focus on my work in the comics industry. I’ll also be able to post higher resolution images of artwork on this site than facebook generally handles.

Thanks for stopping by!
