I’ve just listed some pencil art from Batman ’66 Issue #29 (digital)/Issue #9 (print) in the “Art for Sale” section of this site. The page in question was completed in pencil, scanned by me and sent electronically to Karl Story who inked it on a blueline printout. If that makes no sense to you, then please disregard it and just rest assured that this is the actual pencil art used for page 9 of my Batman ’66 story. An additional page of pencil art featuring variations on the original panels (used in the digital publication of this story) will be included. Check the piece out by clicking on the “ART FOR SALE” tab at the top of this page.

This one almost slipped by me: Batman ’66 #29 featuring a short story illustrated by myself and Karl Story will be available digitally on Wednesday from Comixology and wherever else you get your digital comics. The story will be physically published on March 19 as part of the print version of Batman ’66 issue #9. Hope that makes sense: self-contained digital story out on Wednesday, print version published as a backup story in Batman ’66 #9. If you want to see a preview of some of the lettered color art from the story, click HERE.

I just added two new layout sets to the Art Sales page, the complete 60+ page set for my part of The Flash #25 and the complete 100+ page set for my upcoming Batman ’66 story. Click on the “Art For sale” link at the top of this page to check out some samples!

I’ve been streamlining my studio little by little, and I’ve decided to let some pages from my own personal stash of my own art go. Some of these are pages I’ve been hanging onto for years, like two pages from the original Alan Moore-written Tom Strong series (complete with word balloons and lettering on the actual art), two Ex Machina pages and an unpublished pencil Superman cover (pictured above). Others are newer but no less nice, including the semi-splash page from my Rocketeer story, a Return of Bruce Wayne page, an Action Comics splash page and the cover of Tom Strong and the Planet of Peril #2 (pictured below). Check out the newly listed pieces by clicking on the Art for Sale” link at the top of this page. The new items are in red.

Tom Strong and the Planet of Peril #6 hits stands (both physical and digital) tomorrow. Comics Alliance has posted a 6-page lettered color preview. Click HERE to see it. Ordinarily I’d post another color page and the corresponding pencil art in this kind of post, but the preview already gives too much of the story away, and my favorite pages from the issue have significant plot details I don’t want to ruin. So, I’m just going to re-post one of the preview pages and its corresponding pencil art for now.

After the previous post, I realized I hadn’t mentioned another cover I’ve had published recently, a variant cover for Batman ’66 #4. The inked art is shown above, the pencil version below. Personally, I think I relied to heavily on the photo reference, leading to a too stiff drawing overall. However, it was a bit of a rush job, so it could have been worse! I do love Karl Story’s ink work on the cape, though. If you happen to like my depiction of TV’s caped crusader, then you might be pleased to know I’m working on more Batman ’66 material right now!

I drew a variant cover for Superman Unchained #4 which was published last week. I had no idea it was out until I signed a bunch of copies this weekend at the Akron Comicon, so I’m posting about it a week late. I was asked to depict the ’80s era Superman, and since my favorite part of the ’80s Byrne Superman run was his version of Krypton, I came up with the image you see above (in color, and below in its pencil form).

I’ve added a Layouts & Prelims section to this site’s art sales page. Several pieces are up for sale now in the Layouts section, including an unused Superman pencil piece and some sets of layouts for entire issues of Tom Strong and the Planet of Peril. Click on the link at the top of this page to go to the art sales page and have a look!

DC Comics/Vertigo has posted a preview of the new issue of the new Tom Strong mini-series, both on their own website and on various comics sites around the web. Click HERE to see the final lettered color cover and the first five pages of the book at Comic Book Resources. I’ve posted two more color pages above and below. Tom Strong and the Planet of Peril #3 goes on sale Wednesday.
